What a mow from Lion's Heart includes
Every visit is a full service, not just a pass with the mower. We cut the turf, string trim everything the deck can't reach, edge the concrete and blow the clippings off your driveway, sidewalk and patio before we leave. Most customers are on a weekly route from spring green-up through fall. Every other week works for slower-growing lawns or in the dry part of summer.
The stripes
Stripes are what people know us for. They come from the roller on our stand-on mowers bending the grass blades in alternating directions, so the lawn catches light in light and dark bands. We change the direction from week to week so the turf doesn't rut. If you'd rather have a plain, even cut, just say so.
Mowing height matters more than most people think
Most lawns around here are tall fescue, and fescue does best cut tall: around 3½ to 4 inches through the heat of summer. Taller grass shades the soil, holds moisture and crowds out weeds. Zoysia lawns are different. We lower those gradually over the season to a tighter cut that looks like a fairway. We set the deck for your grass, not the other way around.
Homes, HOAs and commercial properties
Our route includes single-family yards, HOA common areas and pond banks, apartment complexes and small business properties. One Leavenworth apartment complex took five hours to bring back the first time; it's been striped on a regular schedule since. If you manage a property, we'll walk it with you and quote it the same way.
Rain, heat and the schedule
We don't mow saturated ground. Heavy mowers on wet Kansas clay leave ruts and tear the turf, so after a big storm we wait a day and work through the list in order. On dangerous heat days we may shift a day to keep the crew safe. When the schedule moves, we post it on Facebook so you're never guessing.
